Stop OS X Safari Auto Unzipping Downloaded Folders

If you’re trying to manually install a theme via AppearanceThemesAdd NewUpload Theme or manually install a plugin via PluginsAdd NewUpload Plugin, you’ll first need to download the zip folder to your desktop. If you’re using Safari as your browser you might notice that, after downloading, the theme or plugin is unzipped on your desktop or downloads folder. In its unzipped format, it won’t be possible to manually install the theme or plugin. Stopping Safari from auto-unzipping folders and then re-downloading your theme or plugin is probably the easiest solution. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Open Safari and then click SafariSettings in the top bar.
2. At the bottom of the General tab, disable the option labeled Open “safe” files after downloading.
3. Redownload your theme or plugin zip file. It should now land on your desktop or downloads folder in its intended zip format.
