Blog settings control what shows on the blog page and archives, and on single posts. They are at AppearanceCustomizeTheme SettingsBlog.

Archive Featured Image

Displays the featured image on the blog page and on archive pages. On by default.

Archive Post Content

Choose Full Post Content or Post Excerpt for the blog page and archives. Choose Full Post Content to split posts with the “more” tag. The default is Full Post Content.

On a new site the blog page shows excerpts until you save this setting. Pick an option in the Customizer and click Publish.

Read More Text

Sets the link text used when a post is split with the “more” tag and for the excerpt link. The default is Continue reading.

Excerpt Length

Sets the number of words in a generated excerpt. Polestar generates one when a post has no manual excerpt. The default is 55.

Post Excerpt Read More Link

Displays the Read More link below the excerpt. It applies only when Archive Post Content is Post Excerpt. It does not show in search results. On by default.

Post Featured Image

Displays the featured image on single posts. On by default.

Post Date

Displays the post date on the blog page and archives, and on single posts. On by default.

Post Author

Displays the author name on the blog page and archives, and on single posts. On by default.

Post Categories

Displays the post categories on the featured image. On by default. A post without a featured image shows no categories. Turning off the featured image settings above also hides them.

Post Comment Count

Displays the comment count on the blog page and archives, and on single posts. It shows only when comments are open. On by default.

Post Tags

Displays the post tags on single posts. On by default.

Post Author Box

Displays the author avatar, a link to their posts and their biographical info below single posts. On by default.

Related Posts

Displays related posts below single posts. On by default. Polestar shows up to 3 posts from the first category of the current post, under the heading “You May Also Like”. If Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (YARPP) is active, Polestar uses it instead.

Settings marked Premium need Polestar Premium.

Ajax Comments

Lets visitors submit comments without a page reload. On by default. It does not apply to WooCommerce products.

YARPP gives you control over the related posts below each post.

  1. Go to PluginsAdd Plugin. Install and activate Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (YARPP).
  2. Go to SettingsYARPP.
  3. In Automatic Display Options, clear every checkbox after Automatically display related content on. Polestar places the related posts itself.
  4. Under Theme, click Custom.
  5. In the Template file list, select Polestar.
  6. Click Save Changes.

With a child theme, YARPP cannot find the template. Copy yarpp-template-polestar.php from the Polestar folder into your child theme folder.
