    Hello,

I hope someone can offer a simple solution to make my website look like the demo. I tried to do this manually but am not very technical. I then watched several videos on how to import the demo version, tried to follow them, and installed a plugin for this also. Nothing worked. This is very frustrating.
I would be so grateful if someone had a simple solution for this.

    Thank you,
    Tamara

    Hi Tamara

    Thanks for getting in touch.

I’m not sure there are several videos for Ultra’s setup. Can you confirm the theme name and author name for the theme you’re using?

    Hello Andrew,

    It’s Ultra Version: 1.6.4

    Does that help?

    Thank you!

    Hi Tamara

Thanks. Were you perhaps watching generic videos on demo content? Ultra doesn’t have any publicly available demo content that I’m aware of.

You can perhaps try using https://wordpress.org/plugins/one-click-demo-import/. I have the following files available: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xcfya7mab358m6x/AADllVvFbc8Nh2Osx3pf3dJ0a?dl=0

Once activated, One Click Demo Import is accessible via Tools > Import > One Click Demo Import. Scroll down to Manual Demo File Import and import the WIE, JSON, and DAT files from the Dropbox link above. Unfortunately, this isn’t a complete import but what is available at the moment.

The import files aren’t a complete import; they won’t import plugins. Ultra doesn’t have a complete demo import at this time. It’s something I could develop separately but isn’t allowed on the theme directory. If I were re-creating the home page or something similar, I’d do the following:

    – Appearance > Themes > Add New: Search for and install Ultra.
    – Plugins > Add New: Search for and install SiteOrigin Page Builder and SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle.
    – Plugins > Add New: Search for and install the Classic Editor plugin.
    – Go to Pages. Is there a page called Home? If not, create a page called Home.
    – Go to Settings > Reading and assign the Home page as your Static Home Page.
    – Go back to Pages and edit your Home page. Click on the Page Builder tab. Click Layouts > Prebuilt Layouts, select the Consultant layout and insert it.
    – If any Widgets are showing as missing, go to Plugins > SiteOrigin Widgets to enable them.
    – To remove the gap between the header and the Hero Widget, use the Page Settings in the right column of the page to remove the Header Bottom Margin: https://purothemes.com/documentation/ultra-theme/page-settings/.

    Hi Andrew,

I just wanted to make my site look like the actual example shown when you apply it in WordPress. It has one large banner and three buttons in the lower half. When I uploaded the theme, it looked nothing like it. My header looks like a thumb nail, tiny (and not like the large banner pictured), and I can’t figure the rest out. I am not a complete idiot and have built a website before, but the customizations don’t give me these options. So I went online and researched options to make my website look like the “demo”, the example of “Ultra”. That’s all. I can’t figure it out. Unfortunately, I am unable to put a print screen into this thread to show you what the example looks like and what my page looks like.

    Thanks,
    Tamara

Ok, thanks very much for your help, yes, I tried importing and it didn’t work. I will try with your files. It looks complicated. Thanks very much for your help though!

Thanks for the update. The current WordPress theme directory guidelines are quite limiting regarding what can be included in the theme.

The home page slider is designed to integrate with Smart Slider 3 or Meta Slider; either can be used: https://purothemes.com/documentation/ultra-theme/home-page-slider/.

The home page demo uses Page Builder by SiteOrigin: https://purothemes.com/documentation/ultra-theme/home-page/.

Without the demo content, this is a quick way to get started:

    – To remove the gap between the header and the Hero Widget, use the Page Settings in the right column of the page to remove the Header Bottom Margin.

To insert a slider, go to Plugins > Add New, search for and install Smart Slider. Add a slider in Smart Slider 3. Go to Pages > Home and select your slider in the Page Slider drop down in the right column.

    Hi there,

I think that I have completely messed up my site now. Even in another theme, it’s all messed up. Would you know how I can get back to square one again? Look at this https://thelegalcontentlounge.com/

Think I will forget about it and pay someone next time.

    Thanks

    Your site isn’t messed up.

Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Settings > Navigation to disable the Top Bar Menu or Appearance > Menus to create a menu for that location. You can assign menus to locations from Appearance > Menus > Menu Locations.

To delete duplicate posts or pages, go to Pages in WordPress and delete the pages you don’t want. Go to Pages > Trash to do the final deletion. The same under Posts in WordPress; delete the posts you don’t want to use. Menus are lists; create a menu from Appearance > Menus. When ready, attach your menu to a location from Appearance > Menus > Menu Locations.

Thank you, Andrew, I really appreciate all the help you’ve provided. You’ve gone above and beyond!
I’ll look at it with a fresh eye later.
    Again, thank you!

PS: Just one more thing. The tab with my website, when open, now shows a blue “P” instead of the hostgator logo (a little alligator), which is on all my other websites. Have I done something wrong for this to appear now? I can’t seem to get it to disappear.

Sure, no problem. Many of the features we’re discussing are general WordPress concepts that can be used with any theme. To adjust your site favicon go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.
