LorilinParticipantHey there, Andrew…sorry, me again!
I just discovered that the automatic blog page shows all posts, no matter the category. So the “posts” for all my plugins that work on a post basis (like “the grid”) are showing up on my blog page. But they aren’t actually “blog” articles.
I’d like to have just one post category showing on that page…sooo….the question is, what would be the simplest way to do it?
Thanks in advance,

LorilinParticipantOh oh oh, maybe I can do it…maybe I should find a way to make a custom category page (with plugin, probably) and tell that to be the blog page? I will check it out…

Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi Lori
There are a few ways to do this. You could link your Blog menu item to the category you want to use, all categories have associated archive pages. If you’re using Page Builder by SiteOrigin you could use the Post Loop widget to select the categories you’d like to display. If you want to use a Post Loop widget on your Blog page, you’ll need to deselect your blog page from Settings > Reading first.

LorilinParticipantOh wow, thanks again, Andrew! The SiteOrigin method will work great! Super easy. I don’t actually even have any proper “blog” entries at the moment…I only noticed the problem because the Yoast page sitemap was listing the blog page, which just had a list of all those backend posts for plugins. Ugh!
Once again, you’ve risen above and beyond the call of duty. And you’re sooooo much friendlier in your support messages than than two of the other bigtime theme providers (who shall remain nameless…I don’t want to shame them, just give you a compliment).
Cheers and rock on!

Andrew MisplonKeymasterSuper, really glad to hear that helped. In the future, if you need to make the post loop more specific than the settings allow, we can use the Additional field to add queries like excluding categories by ID. If that need arises, please let me know.
Thanks so much for your support, kind words and donation, it’s most appreciated! Let me know when future questions arise 🙂
Chat soon, cheers.
