Olee OlenaParticipantHello,
I’m sorry I just don’t understand something. I’m new with page creating, i’ve got wordpress page before but all settings were done by someone else before i start work with it. So now i’m creating new page by myself. I’m comparing this both pages settings, but themes are different, so i’ve got some very simple basic problems. I want to make 3 column on from page, which is gonna be my 3 latest posts. It’s sounds so stupid, because it’s what is displayed on Ultra theme front page and i can’t figure out how to do that 🙁 i’m really struggling.February 11, 2016 at 7:44 pm #3033
Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi Olee
Thanks for reaching out.
The easiest solution here would be to go to
Settings > Reading
and selectFont page displays > Your latest posts
. Next, go toAppearance > Theme Settings
and locate the setting labelledBlog Archive Layout
. Ultra offers a regular Blog layout as well as a left aligned featured image or a left aligned thumbnail featured image. Unfortunately, Ultra doesn’t currently offer a three column blog archive layout.Another option would be to go to
Appearance > Home Page
which is a static home page shortcut. Turn that optionON
and manage the page using the SiteOrigin Page Builder interface. There you can build a layout as required. To add blog posts you can add a Post Loop widget and choose the one of the above-mentioned layouts from theTemplate
drop down menu within the widget.Let me know how you come along 🙂

Olee OlenaParticipantSo I’m trying Appearance> Home page, adding widget and i’m trying to choose layout from templates but it’s not working, I’m clicking on USE button but nothing. http://layouts.siteorigin.com/layout/minimal/

Andrew MisplonKeymasterOk, so you’re looking at using a SiteOrigin Page Builder Prebuilt Layout on the home page. To confirm, that won’t display your posts, it’s a static layout.
The Layouts Directory is a relatively new SiteOrigin Page Builder feature. Let me take a look at what might be going wrong there.

Olee OlenaParticipantOk, thanks Andrew!

Andrew MisplonKeymasterAfter clicking
Use
you should receive a popup notification that reads:Are you sure you want to overwrite your current content? This can be undone in the builder history.
Once you’ve accepted a loading icon will appear at the bottom of the window while the layout loads, you should then be redirected back to Page Builder.
It’s working nicely on my local install. If you try again and the layout still isn’t being applied you might try a plugin conflict test. Temporarily deactivate all plugins not made by SiteOrigin and try again, if the layout works you’d then need to reactivate your plugins one by one, running a test of the problem after each activation. I cover the plugin conflict test here:

Andrew MisplonKeymasterBefore trying the plugin conflict test, try to apply the layout again. It makes an external request to Google App Engine so it’s possible your local connection timed out.

Olee OlenaParticipantI tried plugin conflict test, still not working.

Andrew MisplonKeymasterTo completely rule out conflicts you can try testing with all non-SiteOrigin plugins deactivated AND a default WordPress theme activated, I usually test with Twenty Sixteen. That’ll rule out plugin and theme conflicts. You can test Page Builder prebuilt layouts on any page by clicking on the Page Builder tab next to Visual and Text and then Prebuilt.

Olee OlenaParticipantI changed themes few times then came back to Ultra, installed Widgets Bundle, layout start to work then i mess a little bit with layout and choose again Default Home layout. Sooo and now i see exactly what i wanted to see on the Home page, 3 text column with 3 blue circle above. I don’t know what i did wrong before… but now it’s working 🙂 One problem is solved! Even Meta slider started to work, it’s like a Christmas miracle 🙂
