hectorthepuddingParticipantHi,
New to Puro themes and like what I see – less of the frivolous and more of the essentials!
Just a query on Ultra (free) – there’s a demo slider included, and I’ve found where I can turn it on and off. But where do I (or could I) change the images in the slides? Are they hard-wired in just for demo purposes?
Thanks

Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi H
Unfortunately the demo isn’t editable but Smart Slider has some awesome premade templates ready to go. Once a Smart Slider has been added it will appear in the drop down list.
Here is the full explanation:
Hope that helps 🙂

hectorthepuddingParticipantThanks, Andrew, that’s a great help. I guess you mean that once the slider plugin is installed it will overrride the demo slider…?
April 6, 2018 at 3:56 pm #9314
Andrew MisplonKeymasterSure.
You’ll still need to set the slider.
Once you’ve created a Smart Slider you can then change the Home Slider or any Page Slider setting to either None or one of your new sliders.April 11, 2018 at 2:55 pm #9354
hectorthepuddingParticipantOK, I’ve set the slider and can choose the SmartSlider….which is very full featured plugin…maybe a little too well featured, I found it quite hard to get my head round it!
One Puro related issue, however: if you set the site layout to a ‘boxed’ option, the Smart Slider still appears full width – so it’s always spanning entire browser width, regardless of the ‘boxed’ layout container.
Is there any way to resolve this, because it looks a bit untidy in a boxed layout?
cheers

Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi H
Try editing the Smart Slider, clicking Size and then scrolling down and disabling the Force Full Width item. That’s working for me.
The SiteOrigin Hero widget might be an option if you want something simple. Sorry for the late suggestion but thought I’d mention it anyway. Here is how to handle that if you ever want to try it: https://purothemes.com/documentation/ultra-theme/home-page-slider/#heading-using-another-slider-plugin-or-widget.

hectorthepuddingParticipantSorry, I’m referring to ULTRA theme!…. your brand name is stuck in my head!
Here’s a link to what I mean by full width slider over boxed layout:

Andrew MisplonKeymasterI might have lost you here a little. If that’s a Smart Slider, have you perhaps tried my steps?
Edit the Smart Slider, click Size and then scroll down and disable the Force Full Width setting. I tested it and it’s working for me.I’ll be back online in a couple of hours for any follow-ups 🙂

hectorthepuddingParticipant(our messages overlapped, you were too quick on the trigger!)
Andrew, thanks for quick reply – yes, disabling full-width in Smart Slider did the trick! 🙂
I guess I need to spend more time understanding the Smart Slider….but there’s a lot of options in there!
Thanks.
One other thing (though maybe another topic..?) – a couple of strange things happen in the header when the browser size is adjusted:
1. the menu can disappear completely, regardless of whether it is the normal layout or mobile menu icon. Needs a browser refresh every time to make it return.
2. the logo get’s smaller the larger the browser window!…. and conversely larger the smaller the window! This seems rather counter-intuitive to me, I’d expect the opposite to happen! A tiny logo in a near full screen browser window looks….well, odd!April 11, 2018 at 3:37 pm #9361
Andrew MisplonKeymasterBoth points sound abnormal. I’ll take a look at your site if it’s public ASAP this evening.

hectorthepuddingParticipantSorry, it’s on MAMP localhost. No worries, I’m out soon, too, we can address issue later.
regards

Andrew MisplonKeymasterNeither points should be happening. It’ll be quite challenging to solve without taking a look. If it isn’t too long until you launch, perhaps I could take a look once the site is live?
April 12, 2018 at 11:13 am #9367
hectorthepuddingParticipantIt would be a while to launch…still trying to decide on a nice theme to work with! 😉
I’ll see if I can get it up online somewhere – I don’t have a development site, just do everything on MAMP; then finally move to Siteground if it goes live, a routine that’s worked fine so far.
May be best to close this thread as resolved and I’ll raise it under another thread if the logo issue is troublesome.
Thanks.

Andrew MisplonKeymasterThanks for explaining. Sure, if you want to have a crack at solving in the near future, please let me know. I can try guess with screenshots.
Chat soon 🙂
