I like the idea of utilizing the space in the nav menu for social icons and a phone number.
I was recommended https://wordpress.org/plugins/widgets-in-menu/.
Is that a good option, or what would be better to add both of those in the nav menu for http://tinyurl.com/y8l2a6e2?

You can try do this just using the menu. Social icons can be added to any menu, just add a Custom Link, enter the URL like https://twitter.com/PuroThemes and enter anything you like for the link label. For your phone number, you could also use a Custom Link and perhaps use your Contact page for the URL. Worth a try. Let me know how it goes.
