TriciaParticipantHi,
I’ve done a major mess up and need some help. I was switching themes and ended up with the white screen of death in WordPress (“The site is experiencing technical difficulties.”). I switched to Ultra, thinking I had switched to Polestar, and then activated the Polestar Child. I think the combination of Ultra and Polestar Child maybe threw my site into panic mode. Now I can’t get to anything to fix it. I can’t switch to a new theme; I just get an error message.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,

Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi Tricia, what’s the error message?

Andrew MisplonKeymasterAhh, ok, The site is experiencing technical difficulties is the error.
There is a more detailed error message available but you’d need to enable debug to see that.
Here is how you can enable WP_DEBUG to view the error: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-set-up-wordpress-error-logs-in-wp-config/.
Alternatively, you can login to your server via FTP or Hosting File Manager and navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and delete the theme folder you just activated.
The steps you outlined shouldn’t have caused this though.

TriciaParticipantThank you, Andrew. I’m sorry to have bothered you. I was able to fix it with WordPress Recovery mode. Thank you for your quick reply!
