[Resolved] Internet Explorer 11 issues

Just got this theme set up to replace an an internal intranet website. Works great, except for the feature area on the home page area, and the primary header menu doesn’t display correctly in Internet Explorer 11. All other browsers work fine, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox. I’ve tried to disable all widgets and plugins to see if that was causing the issue, but it is not.

The main menu area specifically aligns completely to the right side of the page and cuts off most of the menu items. The drop down functions, but they are cut off as well and displayed as jumbled text.

In the feature area, the icons are missing, but the more links are displayed with the text. When the home page is disabled, the primary menu bar displays all the menus, but again they are displayed all the way down in a vertical fashion and not horizontal across the header.

The sidebar widgets are displayed then in the footer area instead of actually in the sidebar area. As mentioned, I did try to disable all widgets, and still get the same results with both the features area in the home page, and also the primary menu bar.

Any suggestions? If you need a screen shot that I can privately send you, please let me know. IE 11 version is 11.576.14393.0 on Windows 10. I did verify the same thing on Windows 7. I also did search and try some of your custom CSS entries on other threads, but they didn’t work. I also tried disabling the sticky header.

    Thanks!

    Hi wpvrec

Thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear about these hassles.

Phew, it can be pretty challenging to troubleshoot problems we can’t see. The reason is that we inspect the code output for most issues to determine the problem.

    Ideas
Do these issues persist when you view the demo site in IE11? That’ll be a good place to start troubleshooting.

    Icons
Icons not being displayed can be caused by cross-domain issues. If you’re loading the theme from another domain, even if it’s a sub-domain, the icon font will be blocked for security reasons. This error should be immediately apparent if you open up the dev. tools section and check the console. Put another way, at Settings > General, is your site and WP url the same?

    Menus
Do you have a custom menu saved to each menu location at Appearance > Menus?

Thanks for running the complete plugin conflict test. Sometimes containers breaking can be due to a plugin loading the complete Bootstrap CSS file which also targets certain theme elements and breaks loads of things. But, as you mentioned, not the issue here.

That’s great news 🙂 I’m really glad you were able to find a way forward.

If anything else comes up, please, let me know.

All the best and thanks for your support.

Hi haojie, this was quite a unique case. Please, can you open a new support topic and let us know the details of your problem and also provide a URL so we can check it out. You can use the form at the bottom of this page: https://purothemes.com/support/forum/ultra-theme/
