fredriksegeranptParticipantHi my main menu has a big border of white around it, there is a big gap between the different menu-texts and the “sub-links”. How can I reduce this space?

Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi Fredrik
Good to hear from you.
Is this for your personal site or another URL?
Have you perhaps tried the
Customize > Theme Design > Header > Height
setting?May 16, 2019 at 9:06 am #12683
fredriksegeranptParticipantits for the sight http://www.thefreelife.se
And the header height does not seem to do it?

Andrew MisplonKeymasterThanks. I don’t see the height setting being outputted in the customizer CSS. Is the setting saved? If so, are you perhaps using a caching plugin that can be cleared?
Has the style.css file been edited?

fredriksegeranptParticipantI don´t know what you mean, I have trued to change the header size but nothing happened and I did not have this problem before 🙁

Andrew MisplonKeymasterIt looks like the main style.css file in the theme has been edited? Is that correct? If so, those changes aren’t safe and should ideally be done via a child theme or via Custom CSS. Do you know which rules have been changed in style.css so we can do a recovery? I can see a few that relate to the header height.
I can login and take a look at the header height setting issue but ideally, we need to restore the style.css file so that your changes are stored in a secure, update safe location.

Andrew MisplonKeymasterThanks for the update.
The logo was missing because of this rule in Custom CSS:
.site-header .site-branding img { max-height: 10px; }
I’ve restored the style.css file to default.
The challenge is that the header height setting applies to both the row with the logo in it and the row with the menu in it.
Ideally, crop your logo tightly around the image with no white space and re-add it. It’ll make working with the header easier.
I’ve replaced your Custom CSS with notes.
Customize > Theme Design > Header > Height: That setting will now just control the height below 768px.
See my notes in Custom CSS for changing the heights above 768px.
Crop your logo, remove all the white space.
(If you’re able to, please keep private replies for password etc. We can also shift over to email if you’d prefer.)

Andrew MisplonKeymasterHopefully, you’ve made some progress. I have a backup of the style.css file that I made before I restored it. Are you all good now? Just checking if I can delete this backup on my local computer. Thanks 🙂
