Jonathan SoriaParticipantHello
I want to disable Google Maps on my website and I tried different plugins and it doesn’t work.
I don’t need Google Maps on my website and it makes it slow. Can you please tell me how to disable Google Maps?
Thank you so much for your help.September 7, 2018 at 7:46 am #10472
Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi Jonathan
Good to hear from you.
Polestar doesn’t contain or load any Google Maps elements so it’s most likely a plugin loading a Maps element. If you aren’t able to find the source, please send a URL to the page concerned and I’ll take a look.

Andrew MisplonKeymasterHi. I can’t see the plugin name because of your minification plugin in use, it might be GMap Shortcode. If you go to your Plugins list in your WordPress admin there should be a plugin listed there with Google or Maps in the name. You can also check this by editing your homepage. Edit the last widget at the bottom on the right. Check which shortcode is being used. The plugin powering that shortcode is most likely the plugin that’s loading Google Maps assets. The assets are only being loaded on the homepage and perhaps other pages with the shortcode, they don’t appear to be loaded on all pages. So it’s up to you how to approach it from here.
The forum, unfortunately, doesn’t support email replies. Thanks 🙂

Andrew MisplonKeymasterThere is a SiteOrigin Google Maps widget which is part of the Widgets Bundle. Go to Plugins > SiteOrigin Widgets to activate it. You can try that as an alternative to see if the requests are less.
